SAPACARROS – SHOEING IN S. JOÃO DA MADEIRA

Itinerant artistic intervention

Anticipating the celebrations of its 10th anniversary, the Shoe Museum invited visual artist Xavier G-Solís for a program that includes training, a public space intervention, and a retrospective exhibition.

Shoeing: Sapacarros — worn shoes, remote-controlled and produced by Design students from the Footwear Industry Training Center — come to life in a performative moment resulting from reflection and training around questions such as: What do shoes and cars have in common? As symbols of consumer society, they follow the same logic of ostentation. Getting into a car can be seen as an extension of footwear. On wheels and remotely controlled, they question the manipulation of contemporary society.
